Mayer Brown JSM Adds Two Corporate Partners in Beijing

Mayer Brown JSM announced the expansion of its Corporate practice in Mainland China with the addition of Henry Wang and Billy Au. Their arrival will further expand the firm’s capability in the areas of mergers and acquisitions as well as public and private offerings of equity and debt securities.

Henry will be based in Beijing as a partner and the Head of Investments, China. He was formerly the Managing Partner of Dechert’s Beijing office. He has 20 years of experience in advising tier one multinational companies and industry leaders on corporate matters and was named a “leading China M&A lawyer” by Chambers and Partners in 2012. Henry said: “Mayer Brown JSM is a premium law firm and it will provide me with a good platform in assisting clients as they explore business opportunities both in and outside of China. I greatly look forward to working with my team.”

Billy was an of counsel at Orrick, Herrington and Sutcliffe in Hong Kong and Herbert Smith in Beijing, respectively, prior to joining Mayer Brown JSM. He has extensive experience in global offerings, inbound and outbound M&As and other corporate finance exercises of Chinese state-owned and privately-owned enterprises. He will be stationed in Beijing but also working out of the Hong Kong office.

Billy also added: “I am very delighted to join Mayer Brown JSM as a member of the Corporate & Securities practice group. I will closely collaborate with other team members of the practice group to further strengthen the already outstanding capability that Mayer Brown JSM offers clients in capital market and corporate finance transactions involving Greater China.”

Henry received his J.D. from University of Wisconsin Law School in Madison and Billy received his LLM from King’s College in London.

Henry speaks English and Mandarin while Billy speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
