Phelps Expands Intellectual Property Services

In every market cycle, innovation is the driving force behind a business’s success and longevity. To help our clients guard and benefit from their innovations, Phelps proudly welcomes intellectual property lawyer Warner Delaune, who has joined the firm as a partner. Delaune joins the firm from Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC.

A full-service IP advisor, Warner will work with Phelps’ clients to secure the right IP protection for their needs and advance their competitive positions. In 30 years of legal practice, he has handled hundreds of patents and applications across a wide range of technologies and markets. He also assists in federal trademark and copyright preparation and prosecution, license agreements, joint ventures, and other technology transactions.

“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to bring Warner aboard,” said Phelps Managing Partner Marshall Redmon. “Clients across the firm will instantly benefit from his vast patent prosecution experience and ability to translate that knowledge into the transactional space.”

As a former mechanical engineer and registered patent attorney, Warner is fluent in the business and technical language of his clients. Before starting his law career, he designed and tested infrared systems for military vehicles at Texas Instruments Inc.

“I am excited to work with Phelps’ clients, whose ingenuity contributes so much to the Gulf South economy. The firm’s strong transactional platform is a natural fit for a comprehensive IP practice like mine,” said Warner.

Warner has earned a reputation as a respected IP practitioner and trusted advisor, managing complex portfolios in the United States and internationally. He has received an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been included in Best Lawyers since 2009 in the categories of Patent Law, Technology Law and Trademark Law.
