Wilson Elser Opens Atlanta Office with Six-Member Defense Team

National law firm Wilson Elser has solidified its foothold in the Southeast with the opening of its 31st U.S. office in Atlanta, Georgia.

Effective March 6, 2017, six attorneys led by Jeffrey Melcher, regional managing partner, joined the Am Law 200 law firm. Deputy regional managing partner Parks Stone, of counsels Frank Ing-Jye Chao and Tawana Johnson, and associates Ellis Chen-Mei Liu and Jeffrey (JP) Putnam complete the Atlanta team.

“Opening an office in Atlanta gives Wilson Elser a stronghold in the hub of the southeast and helps us achieve another major component of our firm’s long-term strategy,” said Daniel J. McMahon, Wilson Elser chairman. “With an already strong presence in Florida, including offices in Miami, West Palm Beach and Orlando, the office and this specific team with a practice that reaches beyond Georgia into Alabama, Tennessee and North Carolina, grows our capabilities and our ability to better service our clients throughout the region.”

“The team’s experience working within large, national law firms in a practice that is so closely aligned with Wilson Elser’s will make for a seamless transition and integration into the firm,” added Stratton Horres, regional managing partner of the southwest region and the partner in charge of lateral hiring,

The team represents national and regional clients in a broad range of matters related to insurance coverage and liability defense of all kinds, including transportation, professional liability, commercial litigation, premises liability, product liability, medical malpractice, employment, consumer protection and banking, according to Melcher.

Wilson Elser’s Atlanta office is located in temporary office space in Buckhead Tower at Lenox Square, 3399 Peachtree Road, until its permanent space, also in Buckhead, is available in about six weeks.
