Broad and Cassel Hires Three New Attorneys for Tallahassee Office

Statewide law firm Broad and Cassel today announced that Bruce I. Wiener, Wendy Russell Wiener and D. Bedford Wilder have joined the firm’s Tallahassee office.

Bruce Wiener joins Broad and Cassel as Partner in the Real Estate Practice Group after most recently serving as a Shareholder at Gardner, Bist, Wiener, Bowden, Bush, Dee, LaVia & Wright, P.A. in Tallahassee. The focus of his practice is in transactional real estate law, commercial and acreage lending and land use, as well as development law. He represents buyers and sellers in the purchase and sale of commercial, office, multifamily, acreage and timberland property and provides closing services and title insurance through certain underwriters for these types of transactions. International law firm McDermott Will & Emery today welcomes three leading tax lawyers to the Firm’s partnership. M. Todd Welty, Mark P. Thomas and Laura L. Gavioli join the Firm to expand McDermott’s Tax Controversy practice, which was named “Tax Litigation Firm of the Year” by U.S. News & Best Lawyers in 2014.

Dykema to Combine with Texas-based Cox Smith

Dykema, a leading national law firm, today announced it will combine with Texas-based Cox Smith. The combination will give Dykema a significantly expanded presence in Texas, where Cox Smith is a leading firm with deep history. The additional depth in key practices, coupled with the combined firm’s broader geographic reach, will enhance the range of services available to both firms’ clients. The addition of Cox Smith’s 118 lawyers will give the combined firm more than 450 attorneys in 15 offices. In Texas, the firm will initially operate under the name Dykema Cox Smith. The combination, which takes effect May 1, will double the size of each firm’s Dallas presence, and San Antonio will become one of Dykema’s largest offices. More >>

Michael Bresnick, former Senior DOJ attorney and Executive Director of President Obama’s Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force, Joins Venable

Olin’s $5 Billion Merger with Dow Chemical’s Chlorine Business

Olin Corporation and The Dow Chemical Company announced that they have entered into definitive agreements under which Dow will separate a significant portion of its chlorine value chain and merge that business with Olin in a tax-efficient Reverse Morris Trust transaction, valued at $5 billion.
