Mayer Brown represents Solvay in its $220M acquisition of Ryton® PPS from Chevron Phillips

Mayer Brown represented international chemical group Solvay in its acquisition of the Ryton® PPS (polyphenylene sulphide) business from US-based petrochemical company Chevron Phillips Chemical Company for $220 million. Ryton® PPS replaces metal parts to make cars lighter and more energy efficient. The transaction expands Solvay’s offering of high-performance polymers.

Herbert Smith Freehills advises on landmark transaction in the Nigerian oil and gas sector

Herbert Smith Freehills has acted as global counsel to a group of 13 lenders providing $450m of reserved-based funding to Oando Energy Resources Inc. (“Oando”). The financing helped secure Oando’s $1.65 billion acquisition of various Nigerian onshore and offshore oil and gas assets from ConocoPhillips, the most notable of these assets being a 20% stake in the OML 60, 61, 62 & 63 assets.  Herbert Smith Freehills was also appointed as escrow agent to conclude the acquisition between Oando and ConocoPhillips.

Shearman & Sterling advised International Finance Corporation (IFC), Export Development Canada (EDC), ING Capital LLC, Caterpillar Financial Services Corporation and The Bank of Nova Scotia, as senior lenders, in connection with the $185 million financing, consisting of two tranches, a $160 million facility and a $25 million cost overrun facility, related to the construction and development of the Aurora Gold project, located in Guyana, South America.
