Shearman & Sterling advised a group of banks led by Commerzbank AG on a financing of Euro 455 million for the acquisition of a cavern portfolio by an investment fund structured by IVG Institutional Funds GmbH. These caverns – which are still to be developed for the most part – are oil and gas deposits that are leased to, inter alia, companies in the energy sector.

The Board of SNR Denton Group (a Swiss Verein) announced today that it will add a new member firm in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong office, formerly affiliated with Hammonds LLP, will become associated with SNR Denton upon regulatory approval, and will include 20 professionals, including six partners. The office will initially be known as Brandt Chan & Partners.

Kramer Levin is representing Huntingdon Real Estate Investment Trust in its proposed merger with Fisher Communications, Inc., with Huntingdon proposing to acquire all outstanding shares of Fisher Communications’ common stock. Huntingdon is a real estate investment trust listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange, and owns 75 income producing office, industrial, retail and standalone parking lot properties. Fisher Communications is a Seattle-based media company with television, internet, radio, internet and mobile operations throughout the western United States.

Beachcroft LLP announced today that the firm will be opening an office in Singapore, adding to the firm’s international presence in Brussels, Dublin and Auckland, and a joint venture in India. London partner Ben Nicholson will relocate to Singapore in early 2011 to establish the practice.
