SJ Berwin Lays Off Partners

SJ Berwin has laid off partners due to the economy. The firm did not offer a specific number but instead said that “less than 6” partners were let go. It would appear that the firm is not done with its review and more partners may be asked to leave.

Five Land Use Join Sheppard Mullin

A group of five Land Use Lawyers have left the Los Angeles office of Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis for Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton. Land Use Chairman Jarold Neuman led the group and brought along partner Michael Kiely. The three associates who made the jump are: Alfred Fraijo Jr., Claudia Gutierrez and Phillip Tate.

Norton Rose Welcomes Back Full-Time Schedules

Norton Rose has started the process of making its staff full-time once again. The first mention of the part-time plan was mentioned in March of this year with the aim to save jobs. The firm believes to have saved about 85 jobs all-together. Norton Rose estimates that the number of part-time workers has reduced by 15%. Many of the new full-time employees are in the corporate and banking departments.

Brown Rudnick Receives Partner from Sonnenschein

Brown Rudnick has added a corporate partner to its New York office. John F. Storz was most recently a partner at Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP. Storz focuses on general corporate, investment fun transactions, corporate reorganizations, public/private equity and debt securities offerings, investment fund transactions and joint ventures.
