Nelson Levine Does it Again to Cozen O’Connor

Three attorneys have left Cozen O’Connor for firm, Nelson Levine de Luca & Horst. The group will help open Nelson Levine’s new Denver office. This reminiscent of when the firm took three other attorneys from Cozen earlier in the year. Most recently, on September 8, Joseph Bermudez and Jason Melichar joined Nelson from Cozen as partners. Suzanne Meintzer joined as an associate.

Jones Walker’s Miami Receives Three New Attorneys

Jones Walker has boosted its Miami office with the hire of three attorneys.  D. Renee Jenkins joins the firm as special counsel and was previously with Adorno & Yoss.  Real Estate associate, Gregory W. Kuehnle, joins from Williams Mullen.  Constance D. Russell will be an associate at Jones Walker after completing federal clerkship with the Honorable Catharine R. Carruthers, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Middle District of North Carolina.

Dechert Loses One, Gains Four

Dechert has made up for the loss of one of its senior corporate lawyers from its Moscow office this last Tuesday, with the hiring of three associates and one counsel in Moscow.  Olga Watson, one of the three associates, will work from both the Moscow and London offices.  She joins from Chadbourne & Parke.  Oxana Peters, Timur Djabbarov, and Yuri Makhonin are all formally with Salans.  Dechert’s Moscow office now has 16 lawyers.

Freehills and TransAsia Make Alliance

Freehills, based in Australia, has made it official with Chinese firm TransAsia.  The two firms have signed an alliance making it known to the world that they will work together as co-counsel on occasion.  The news comes after TransAsia signed an alliance with Ta Lawyers in GKJ in Tokyo last February.

Missing Chadbourne

It would appear that Konstantin Konstantinov missed Chadbourne & Parke so much that he only lasted at Dechert a mere four months after jumping from the former to the latter recently.  Konstantinov was one of five partners who were originally believed to make the move.  Two partners, Jennifer Handz and Mikhail Rozenberg, changed their minds and stayed with Chadbourne.  Since Konstantinov’s change of heart, two of the group remain with Dechert.  Laura Brank and Shane DeBeer.

Ice Miller Merger Off

The planned merger between Ice Miller LLP and a Louisville-based firm, Greenebaum Doll & McDonald PLLC, is no longer in the cards. The news comes from an anonymous source from the former. Ice Miller has never publically discussed the possible merger.

Lay-offs in New York at Kirkland & Ellis

Rumor has it that Kirkland & Ellis has laid off around 20 associates in New York.  More attorneys were laid off during this year’s annual review than last.  Kirkland has made great attempts to avoid lay-offs.  The firm has recently done the opposite lately by boosting it’s corporate and finance departments with the hiring of several partner laterals.
