McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce the arrival of Nicole M. Jantzi and Paul M. Schoenhard as partners in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice. The pair’s arrival in our Washington, DC office builds on the strength of McDermott’s IP litigation offerings, particularly with respect to the Firm’s capabilities in representing clients before the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) and in post-grant review proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Ms. Jantzi and Mr. Schoenhard join McDermott from another Am Law 100 firm where they focused on patent litigation and representing clients before various US District Courts, the ITC, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the Court of Federal Claims, and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Ms. Jantzi and Mr. Schoenhard regularly serve as lead counsel for technology clients in disputes involving software, semiconductors, consumer products, telecommunications, and Internet-based technologies. Ms. Jantzi earned her BS in Electrical Engineering from Binghamton University and her JD from The George Washington University Law School where she was part of the Student Intellectual Property Society. Mr. Schoenhard received his BA in mathematics and computer science from Dartmouth College and his JD from Harvard Law School. Mr. Schoenhard went on to clerk for the Honorable Arthur J. Gajarsa of the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Ms. Jantzi and Mr. Schoenhard have represented a number of clients in covered business method (CBM) reviews and inter partes reviews (IPRs) before the PTAB. Their in-depth knowledge of both processes will pair nicely with that of Bernie Knight’s to provide clients with unmatched PTAB capabilities. In addition, the pair has regularly represented clients in disputes before the ITC. Thus, they will join forces with DC-based partner and former ITC employee, Jay Reiziss, to enhance the ITC offerings that McDermott provides its clients across the Firm’s international platform.
