The Washington, D.C., office of global law firm K&L Gates LLP welcomes Robert J. Grey as a partner in the firm’s energy practice and the firm’s Global Boardroom Risk Solutions initiative. Grey, who was previously a partner at K&L Gates legacy firm Preston Gates & Ellis LLP, rejoins the firm from PPL Corporation, where he served as executive vice president and chief legal officer.
Grey has more than 30 years of energy and utility law experience, advising on regulatory, compliance, corporate governance, employment, and intellectual property matters as well as on various business acquisition and spinoff initiatives. Prior to his work at PPL, Grey was general counsel for Long Island Lighting Company and served several years as a staff counsel for the New York State Public Service Commission and as an attorney for the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

In addition to a notable legal career, Grey serves on the board of trustees of St. Luke’s University Health Network; the board of directors of the National Chamber Litigation Center; and the board of directors of the Jewish Federation of the Lehigh Valley. He is also an adjunct lecturer at Columbia Law School.
Grey is already the third partner addition to K&L Gates’ energy practice in 2016, following the January arrivals of Andrea Lucan in Los Angeles and John Gilbert in London. He is the second partner to join the Washington, D.C., office in as many months, with the late-December arrival of Todd Betke in the investment management practice.
