Buchanan Expands Energy Practice in Washington, D.C. With Addition of Energy Attorney Walter J. Dunn

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announced today that Walter J. Dunn has joined the firm’s Energy Practice as a shareholder in Washington, D.C. He comes to Buchanan from Adam & Reese.

Dunn brings more than 15 years of experience on energy transactional matters. He has represented large, investor-owned utilities, independent power producers as well as oil and gas transporters, processors and refiners. His practice focuses on the representation of developers and operators of electric generation facilities, and conventional, alternative and midstream gas facilities across the United States and internationally.

“Walter is an accomplished energy attorney, whose practice is the perfect complement to our attorneys and professionals,” said Sean W. Dunn assists clients in the negotiation and drafting of construction contract agreements for engineering, interconnection, fuel supply, power sales, operations, maintenance, and power and fuel hedge projects.

“Buchanan is a forward-thinking firm. They have a deep and rich history in energy across many sectors, and with an expanding geographic footprint.” Dunn said. “That’s exciting to me. Their desire to spread their reputation nationally– it’s what drew me in.”

Before he began practicing law in 2000, Dunn was a marketing analyst and professional representative at Merck & Co., and was also a pharmaceutical sales representative for Bayer Corp. He earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center and his M.B.A and bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University.
