New Partner Announcement as Squire Patton Boggs Continues Its Expansion Program With Banking and Finance Specialist

Squire Patton Boggs is pleased to welcome Hai-Dang Nguyen to the partnership. He will be a partner in our Financial Services Group and will be based in Sydney. He has recently worked at Baker & McKenzie, where he was the lead counsel in numerous complex financings.

Hai-Dang is a prominent banking and finance specialist and brings with him more than 18 years of widespread experience and expertise across various areas of banking and finance practice, including, in particular, acquisition and leveraged finance, property finance, project finance, structured finance and securitisation, trade finance and general corporate lending.

Hai-Dang is well known for his extensive experience and strong technical knowledge of banking and finance law, as well as his client commitment and commercial approach to problem solving. He has serviced clients across a wide range of industries, including banking, financial services, commercial and hospitality, real estate, energy, mining, construction, automotive, recruitment services, food, agribusiness, education, telecommunications and entertainment.

“We are thrilled to have Hai-Dang on board. It is rare to come across a lawyer with such widespread expertise in virtually every area of banking and finance,” said Australian managing partner John Poulsen. “He is widely recognised as an astute negotiator with an in-depth knowledge of finance law.”

Hai-Dang’s significant experience and understanding of business cultures in Vietnam and other Southeast Asian countries will align with our growing practice in this region, particularly in the commercial real estate and hospitality space. Notably, Hai-Dang is a “go to” expert in relation to expert opinions on banking and financial regulations in Vietnam and other Asian jurisdictions for money laundering cases.

Sydney office managing partner Campbell Davidson said: “Our recent move to Aurora Place has highlighted the exponential growth of our Sydney office. The addition of Hai-Dang will bolster the strength of our banking and finance capabilities, which will also ensure support for our other rapidly growing practices. Hai-Dang is an ideal fit at this stage in the firm’s development.”
