Global law firm Reed Smith has announced the appointment of Alexander (Alex) Fischer as partner to its corporate and commercial practice. Alex joins the firm from the Shanghai office of Rӧdl and will be based in Reed Smith’s Shanghai office.

Alex’s corporate and commercial practice spans areas including M&A, foreign direct investment and investigations. “Alex’s arrival is another step in our strategy to strengthen our China practice,” commented Roger Parker, Reed Smith managing partner for Europe, the Middle East and Asia. “In addition, Alex’s deep knowledge of the German market strengthens our China-Europe offering to Chinese and German clients with in-bound and outbound investments.”

Reed Smith’s Shanghai office opened in 2011 and Alex’s arrival brings the team to five partners and 12 lawyers.
