Shearman & Sterling has appointed Robert Ellison as the firm's São Paulo managing partner. Partner Antonia Stolper is now the Latin America practice leader. Ellison arrived in São Paulo two years ago from Rome, where he was managing partner for six years. Stolper has had more than 30 years of life and work experience in the city.

Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy LLP has set its sights on Sao Paulo. The firm is planning on opening an office there in the near future. Anderw B. Janszky is switching firms from Shearman & Sterling LLP to head Milbank's new office. Milbank also scored another Shearman attorney by the name of Tobias Stirnberg.

Gibson Dunn & Crutcher is preparing to open its Sao Paulo office. It has yet to be approved by the Brazilian Bar, but apparently the firm believes it is in the bag.
