Vanessa Gage Joins Pillsbury’s Global Transportation Finance Team

Pillsbury today announced the addition of highly regarded financial transactions lawyer Vanessa Gage as partner. Gage’s extensive experience, especially working with transportation industry clients, aligns seamlessly with the ongoing expansion of the firm’s offering in asset-based lending while also strengthening Pillsbury’s finance group generally. She joins the transportation finance practice from Reed Smith and will reside in the San Francisco office.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Vanessa to our transportation finance team, which has seen tremendous growth in recent months,” said Finance practice leader Jon Whitney. “Her experience across a range of transaction types—and with cross-border, multijurisdictional deals—is not only an excellent fit with our existing capabilities but also adds new dimensions to them.”

Gage represents a wide range of private and public companies and financial institutions in asset-based lending, securitization and other structured products transactions, particularly those related to the financing of aircraft, rail and other equipment. She has also worked extensively on restructurings and workouts of project financings and purchases/sales of distressed assets and has a thriving FinTech practice representing Bay Area startups.

“This has been a banner year for Pillsbury in terms of asset finance work, and Vanessa’s presence in the Bay Area is a key part of our strategy to continue developing those capabilities for our clients,” said Firm Chair Jim Rishwain. “We are very pleased to have her.”

Last month, Pillsbury welcomed counsel Richard Roberts to the Transportation Finance practice in Los Angeles, following the addition of partner Jonathan Goldstein in New York earlier this year. And in March, the firm announced the arrival of partner Paul Jebely in tandem with its expansion in Hong Kong. Likewise, the San Francisco office continues to grow in other key areas—in recent months, the firm has announced the additions of corporate partners Michael Torosion and Jenny Liu.

“The capabilities and deep bench strength of Pillsbury’s asset finance practice are impressive, and I am excited to be a part of the team,” Gage said. “The firm’s deeply talented practitioners, excellent and ascending reputation and global reach provide an ideal platform for my practice to flourish.”
