Gibson Dunn Adds Energy and Infrastructure Partner Robert Nelson in San Francisco

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP is pleased to announce that Robert L. Nelson, Jr. has joined the San Francisco office as a partner. Formerly a partner with Shearman & Sterling, he will continue his international energy and infrastructure practice.

“We are very pleased to welcome Bob to the firm,” said Ken Doran, Chairman and Managing Partner of Gibson Dunn. “Bob’s energy and projects practice complements our energy practice, which we expanded significantly this year with the opening of our Houston office and the election of a partner to lead our energy practice in Europe. Bob’s experience in India and Asia also fits well with the types of matters that we are handling in Asia and our broader infrastructure practice.”

“Bob is a strong addition to the firm,” said Charles Stevens, Partner in Charge of the San Francisco office. “He has considerable cross-border transactional experience in the areas of energy, infrastructure, technology, and private equity. He brings additional senior level capacity to our corporate practice in the Bay Area and firmwide.”

“I am looking forward to joining my new partners,” said Nelson. “I was drawn to Gibson Dunn not only for the skill and reputation of its attorneys, but also because of the firm’s emphasis on collaboration and collegiality.”
