He has had extraordinary success in biglaw recruiting, particularly in Asia, having made more than 150 US attorney biglaw placements in Asia in the past five years, easily more than any other recruiter in the industry. His focus since ’06 has been moving US associates to Asia and within Asia, with particular emphasis on Hong Kong / China. Evan has also made partner level placements in Asia and in the US. He has been recruiting since ’03, with an emphasis on US major markets initially, and his first Asia placement in ’05. He has made placements at most of the major US and UK law firms in Asia and has also been successful in placing US attorneys in various banks and funds in Asia. Evan has been named as one of the top 20 attorney recruiters in the world by Law Dragon and has been interviewed by numerous major media outlets for news on Asia biglaw recruitng, such as New York Times, American Lawyer, Asia Counsel, Legal Week, California Lawyer, and CNBC, for example. He is the primary author of the Asia Chronicles series featured on Abovethelaw.com and TheAsiaChronicles.com. He is very well connected at major US and UK firms in Hong Kong / China and regularly meets with senior partners of those firms and is considered to be a key go-to source of market info. He has helped a number of firms build practices and offices in those markets. Prior to his recruiting career, Evan worked as an associate at Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft’s New York offices and also served as general counsel for an international manufacturing company, based in Miami, with a number of factories in Russia and Ukraine, with over 3000 employees. Evan received his JD from Boston University School of Law and completed part of his law degree abroad at Oxford. He completed his undergraduate studies at University of Florida and is a former US Marine, where he served as a Russian Linguist. Evan lives in Miami travels frequently to his Asia markets, including seven trips a year to Hong Kong and multiple trips each year to Shanghai, Singapore, Beijing and Tokyo. He is also frequently in New York.
