Daniel J. Roark, Esq. is Managing Director of the Houston and Austin offices of Kinney Recruiting. A Spanish speaker with a home in Mexico and a well-stamped passport, Daniel also leads our search capabilities in Latin America. Daniel has over a decade of legal recruiting experience and has placed scores of attorneys in major markets across the globe. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where he received his BA in English Literature with a minor in Business and was also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honor Society. Following his undergraduate studies, Daniel spent two years in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas as an elementary school educator for Teach For America, an AmeriCorps program. Daniel then continued his educational endeavors abroad, teaching in the language department of the University of Guanajuato in Guanajuato, Mexico, one of the nation’s most decorated language programs.

Daniel returned to the University of Texas School of Law where he obtained his JD. During law school, he was a member of the Texas International Law Journal and spent a semester studying international and comparative law in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Universidad Torcuato Di Tella .

Upon graduating from law school, Daniel joined the Houston office of the international law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld, LLP. As an associate in the Global Projects Group, Daniel’s practice was primarily concentrated in energy matters with a particular focus on Latin American transactions. Daniel loved the firm, but wanted to move to Austin, as many Texans eventually do. So he joined the business law section of Clark, Thomas and Winters, formerly the largest law firm in Austin, Texas. He is an actively licensed member of the Texas State Bar and other local and national bar and professional associations, currently focusing on pro bono matters. Daniel serves as a Board Member and General Counsel for Guitars for Africa, Inc., a non-profit organization he co-founded that provides musical instruments and related instruction to orphans in Africa. He is also a regular contributor of time to Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas.

An avid runner, Daniel recently participated in Racing the Planet: Georgia and the UTMB CCC in Chamonix, France. He’s also run around half of Iceland and trekked through Nepal,  Patagonia, and the Atacama Desert.

Daniel enjoys spending his free time playing guitar and piano, gardening, traveling and retreating to his house in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico. A native Texan, Daniel currently resides in Austin, Texas.
