Offit Kurman Welcomes Insurance Recovery Attorney Jay M. Levin to the Firm’s Philadelphia Office

Insurance litigator Jay M. Levin is joining Offit Kurman in Philadelphia. With extensive experience in insurance recovery law, Mr. Levin focuses his practice on representing policyholders in disputes with insurance carriers. Mr. Levin is one of three attorneys to join the firm this month, and his affiliation with Offit Kurman signifies not only a higher level of capability within the Insurance Recovery practice group, but a new phase of Offit Kurman’s growth in Philadelphia as a whole.

Mr. Levin’s experience comprises three decades of jury and non-jury trials in state and federal courts, as well as private arbitration proceedings. He has litigated disputes involving multi-million dollar property insurance claims, as well as numerous cases involving different types of coverage, including general liability, professional liability, medical malpractice, bad faith, and construction defect cases. Mr. Levin’s successful outcomes for his clients include the resolution—without litigation—of cases brought by Hurricane Katrina victims involving eight- and nine-figure sums. Mr. Levin is also a frequent lecturer, writer, and legal commentator who has edited and contributed to the Property Insurance Litigator’s Handbook, and whose work has been published by the International Risk Management Institute since 2005. He is ranked as a Band 1 lawyer in Insurance by Pennsylvania Chambers USA for 2015 and 2016.

Mr. Levin’s background positions Offit Kurman’s Insurance Recovery group as a go-to legal resource for policyholders in Philadelphia and beyond. The practice group is one of the largest of just a few regional teams dedicated to representing solely policyholders, and its members are uniquely qualified to provide clients with conflict-free, cost-effective representation.

“I am excited to join Offit Kurman,” Mr. Levin said. “It is a client focused, full-service firm with an excellent insurance recovery practice. Offit Kurman provides me with the opportunity to continue to handle the largest matters while still providing cost-effective solutions for more modest cases.”

Added Theodore “Ted” Offit, Offit Kurman co-founder and CEO: “Jay is an unparalleled insurance litigator. There are not many firms who can do what we do, let alone with a team of this caliber.”
