Jennett Hill Becoming Vice President & General Counsel at Citizens Energy Group

Jennett M. Hill, a partner at Faegre Baker Daniels LLP, will join Citizens Energy Group to become Vice President and General Counsel, effective February 1, 2013. Her last day at the firm will be December 31, 2012.

In addition to practicing nonprofit and tax-exempt law during her tenure with the firm, Hill has provided a variety of clients with legal and business guidance in corporate governance, intellectual property, Internet and privacy matters. She is no stranger to Citizens Energy Group, having provided a variety of legal services to the organization, including legal counsel for Citizens’ community redevelopment efforts for more than eight years.

Hill has been named to The Best Lawyers in America in nonprofit/charities law every year since 2007. As a supporter for the provision of pro bono legal services, she received a Charles L. Whistler Pro Bono Award from the firm in 2007.

At Faegre Baker Daniels, Hill played an integral role in helping the Indiana National Guard form a foundation to raise money for a memorial to recognize the guard and its mission. The daughter of an Army officer, she also led the firm’s role in developing the Indiana Lawyers for Soldiers initiative, which offers pro bono legal services to deployed members of the Indiana National Guard and their families. On behalf of the firm, Hill accepted the Sponsor’s Award for Excellent Service from the Military Department of Indiana.

Hill also has helped lead the firm’s coordinated efforts with Eli Lilly and Company to deliver a program offering from Street Law (a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization) to high school students at the Shortridge Magnet High School for Law & Public Policy affording the students an opportunity to learn legal concepts from practicing attorneys.

Before joining Faegre Baker Daniels in January 2001, Hill worked for IBM for over 10 years in various capacities, including systems engineer, systems design consultant and regional manager. She is a graduate of the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and DePauw University.

Hill currently chairs the board of directors of the Eskenazi Health Center, Inc., and serves on the board of directors of the Center for Leadership Development, Inc. She recently joined the board of directors of the Indianapolis Neighborhood Housing Partnership, Inc.
