King & Wood Mallesons is advising Suncorp Group Ltd on its offer of convertible preference shares, which is expected to raise approximately A$350 million.

The King & Wood Mallesons team is being led by banking and finance partner Ian Paterson and M&A partners Shannon Finch and Evie Bruce.

Ian Paterson said “Suncorp’s offer of convertible preference shares is the latest in a series of new hybrid capital raising structures we have advised on which are designed to meet new capital requirements under APRA’s capital adequacy standards. We are pleased to have assisted our client structure this important transaction.”

Earlier this month, King & Wood Mallesons acted on CBA’s PERLS VI hybrid offer, the first hybrid offered by an Australian bank to meet the Basel III capital requirements which come into full effect from January 2013.
