Simmons & Simmons has expanded its international Corporate & Commercial Group with the appointment of Helmut Kempf as a partner.

Helmut joins from international energy company RWE, where he has worked since 2001, and previous to that worked at Commerzbank. He has experience in M&A transactions and energy projects and was most recently a Project Coordinator for the Nabucco pipeline. Helmut is fluent in German, English and French.

Commenting on the appointment, Simmons & Simmons’ Germany Country Head, Hans-Hermann Aldenhoff said: ‘‘Helmut’s appointment comes as part of our strategy to grow in our priority sectors, and his experience in the Energy & Infrastructure Sector will benefit our clients in Germany and internationally.’’

Simmons & Simmons in Germany has seen a period of growth, and so far in 2012 the firm has hired partners Wolfgang Kotzur (Finance, Frankfurt), Robert Koller (Finance, Frankfurt), Volker Holl (Corporate, Frankfurt), Bernulph von Crailsheim (Tax, Frankfurt) and Jochen Terpitz (Projects, Frankfurt).
