Ungaretti & Harris Expands Practice with Two Lateral Partners and Four Associates

Ungaretti & Harris has added six new laterals, expanding the depth of its Corporate, Real Estate, Healthcare and Litigation groups. Jeffrey M. Friedman and David N. Tanner join as partners, and Lucy M. KalnesSarah E. Mick, April E. Schweitzer and Alexandros Stamatoglou join as associates.

Jeffrey M. Friedman, 38, has joined Ungaretti & Harris as a partner in the Corporate Department. He represents clients in all aspects of business, advising them on matters involving real estate investments, capital structure, transaction strategy, corporate governance and strategic planning. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Friedman was a principal at JMF Group and previously practiced in the Real Estate Capital Markets Group at DLA Piper and the Tax Department at Drinker, Biddle & Reath. He earned his LL.M in Taxation from New York University, MBA in Finance from Stuart School of Business, J.D. from Chicago-Kent College of Law, and received his B.A. in Economics and Studies in Religion from the University of Michigan.

David N. Tanner, 38, has joined the firm as a partner in the Real Estate Group. His practice focuses on real estate acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing transactions, zoning and land use matters, and representing lenders and borrowers in real estate financing matters, note purchases, workouts and restructurings. Previously, Mr. Tanner was a principal at JMF Group, practiced at leading commercial real estate firms in Chicago and served as Associate General Counsel for a Chicago-based real estate development company. Mr. Tanner earned his J.D. from Saint Louis University in 2000 and his B.A. from the University of Missouri in 1997.

Lucy M. Kalnes, 31, has rejoined the firm as an associate in the Corporate Department, following her experiences at Utah-based natural resources boutique Lear & Lear. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions and general corporate representation. Ms. Kalnes earned her J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Illinois in 2007 and her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin in 2003.

Sarah E. Mick, 31, has joined Ungaretti & Harris as an associate in the Healthcare Department from the Law Offices of Dorsey and Whitney. Ms. Mick received her Masters in Health Law from Loyola University in 2011, her J.D. cum laude from DePaul in 2007 with a certificate in Health Law, and her B.A. magna cum laude from Illinois Wesleyan University in 2004.

April E. Schweitzer, 29, has joined the firm as an associate in the Healthcare Department. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Schweitzer was with the Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy, where she was Health Justice Project Administrator. She earned her J.D. cum laude from Loyola University in 2013, where she was a Health Law Fellow, and her B.A. cum laude from Marquette University.

Alexandros Stamatoglou, 32, has joined the firm as an associate in the Litigation Department. He earned his J.D. summa cum laude and was valedictorian of the 2012 class at John Marshall School of Law and received his B.A. from the University of Illinois in 2003. Previously, he clerked for Judge Charles P. Kocoras and District Judge Philip Reinhard of the Northern District.
