Preeminent Tax Attorney Jared Rusman to Join New York Office of Kirkland & Ellis

Kirkland & Ellis LLP is pleased to announce that Jared Rusman has joined the Firm as a tax partner in the New York office. Mr. Rusman joins Kirkland from the Dallas office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he was a partner in the tax department.

Mr. Rusman is focused on all aspects of corporate and partnership tax matters, with a particular emphasis on the tax aspects of domestic and cross-border mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, restructurings, divestitures, and spin-offs and split-offs for public and private companies.

Mr. Rusman was named a 2015 Tax MVP by Law360, and has been recognized as a leading tax lawyer in Texas by Chambers USA since 2005, where clients note his “outstanding tax intellect, and ability to digest and analyze complex issues,” adding, “[he] can provide practical advice in a manner that is understandable to…company management.” He is also recognized as a leading lawyer by Best Lawyers in America, The Legal 500 U.S. and Super Lawyers.

Mr. Rusman joins Kirkland from the Dallas office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where he was a partner in the tax department. Prior to joining Weil in 2007, Mr. Rusman was a partner with Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York. Mr. Rusman attended New York University School of Law and Georgetown University.
