Market-leading hires continue strategic growth in the U.S. For Allen & Overy

Allen & Overy is pleased to announce the addition of Bill Schwitter, Michael Chernick and Jeffrey Pellegrino to the firm’s Leveraged Finance and Securities practices in New York.

Each of the new partners is a leader in his respective field. Bill primarily focuses on high-yield bonds, private equity and corporate counseling, Michael has combined syndicated lending and high-yield bond expertise, and Jeff advises on high yield bonds and a wide variety of other debt and equity capital markets transactions. The new partners join from Paul Hastings, where Bill previously served as the head of their leveraged finance group and prior to that, chaired their corporate department.

Their arrival expands Allen & Overy’s team of U.S. Leveraged Finance partners to twelve in New York. This is a significant strategic addition for A&O’s New York finance practice following the July 2016 hire of a team of five prominent leveraged finance partners.

Scott Zemser, Co-Head of Global Leveraged Finance commented: “The addition of Bill, Michael and Jeff bolsters our top-tier leveraged finance practice in New York. The new partners further enhance Allen & Overy’s position as a go-to advisor on bank and bond transactions for both U.S. and cross-border leveraged finance transactions across all industries.”

Wim Dejonghe, Allen & Overy’s Senior Partner added: “This strategic hire of three leading New York finance partners demonstrates our commitment to the continued expansion in the U.S. across key practice areas. Our ability to hire these highly-regarded attorneys in such a fiercely competitive market shows the increasing attractiveness of our New York finance platform.”

New Allen & Overy partner and Co-Head of Global High Yield and Head of U.S. Private Equity, Bill Schwitter, commented: “We are thrilled to join Allen & Overy. The Firm has a market-leading global finance and M&A practice, which enables us to provide our clients with best-in-class service in New York and across multiple jurisdictions in a variety of complex deal structures. A&O is the perfect platform for advising underwriters, lenders, issuers, corporates and other market players on those high-quality, high-stakes transactions.”

In addition to expanding its U.S. Leveraged Finance and Securities practices, in the past month alone Allen & Overy has announced three senior U.S. litigation and investigations hires, namely Gregory Mocek and Anthony Mansfield in Washington, D.C. and Gene Ingoglia in New York. With today’s announcement, Allen & Overy has hired eleven new partners in the U.S. in the past year.
