Ethan Litwin Joins Dechert’s Antitrust Practice in New York

Dechert LLP is pleased to announce that Ethan Litwin has joined the firm in its New York office as a partner in the antitrust/competition group. He was previously the co-chair of the antitrust group at Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP.

Litwin focuses his practice on antitrust litigation, civil and criminal government investigations, international merger control, and antitrust counseling. Throughout the span of his career, he has litigated high-profile cases in state and federal courts, and has represented clients before antitrust regulators in the United States and the European Union. Noted by Chambers USA 2016 as “very impressive at strategy”, market sources lauded his ability to shape “the facts to the best benefit of his clients.”

Litwin is regularly called upon to defend companies in cartel investigations, and has deep experience in defending and coordinating the multi-jurisdictional and multi-forum litigations that result from them. He has also guided companies through the global merger control process on their most important transactions, including handling multiple Second Requests in the United States and Phase II investigations in Europe.

“Ethan has built a very impressive track record in counseling clients from the U.S., Europe, and Asia in many of the largest cartel investigations and litigated antitrust cases in recent years,” said Michael Weiner, co-leader of the antitrust/competition practice group. “He is also a respected advisor in guiding companies through the merger control process around the world. We are thrilled that Ethan has joined our team and that we are able to offer his experience and skills to our clients.”

Litwin’s clients reside in jurisdictions across the globe and cover a range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, financial services, electronics, media and entertainment, transportation, agriculture, industrial chemicals, information systems, and insurance.

“I am thrilled to join Michael and the entire Dechert family. Dechert’s global platform will greatly enhance my ability to serve my clients more efficiently and effectively,” Litwin noted. “Dechert has a stellar reputation as a firm with one of the country’s top antitrust practices, and I am proud to have the opportunity to join this formidable team.”

A graduate of Duke University (B.A., 1992) and the Georgetown University Law Center (J.D., 1998), Litwin is a member of the New York Bar and is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.

With more than 40 lawyers in Brussels, Frankfurt, New York, Paris, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., Dechert’s antitrust/competition practice has the global capability to develop creative solutions to the most difficult antitrust issues in merger clearance, litigation and business planning. The firm is consistently ranked among the leaders in legal directories and was named Antitrust Team of the Year by Chambers USA in 2014 and shortlisted for the same award in 2015 and 2016.
