Cozen O’Connor Welcomes Health Care Attorney Marc Auerbach to Growing Miami Office

Cozen O’Connor is pleased to announce that Marc H. Auerbach has joined the firm as a member of the Health Care Practice, resident in the Miami office. He joins Cozen O’Connor from McDonald Hopkins, where he was a partner. Previously, Auerbach was a partner in the Miami office of K&L Gates for more than 15 years.

Auerbach advises a range of health care organizations including physician groups, HMOs, hospitals, academic medical centers, diagnostic facilities and medical device manufacturers. His practice encompasses fraud and abuse issues, integrating physician practices, compensation, clinical trials, purchase and sale engagements, and intellectual property licensing. Auerbach also has experience with electronic health matters and related online health care technology issues, including security and privacy rules.

“With Marc’s hiring, following the recent addition of Robert M. Kritzman and Jeffrey Gilbert, we continue to grow our presence in Miami and throughout south Florida,” said Martin T. Schrier, office managing partner of Cozen O’Connor’s Miami office. “Marc’s regulatory and transactional acumen will be of tremendous value to our health care and corporate practice groups nationally and adds to our increasing list of top attorneys in South Florida.”

Nightingale’s Healthcare News has recognized Auerbach as one of the top 10 health care information technology lawyers. Chambers USA has also recognized him as a leading health care lawyer in Florida.

“The health care field is complicated and rapidly evolving,” Auerbach said. “Cozen O’Connor is very focused on expanding its already impressive health care practice group, and I’m pleased to be a part of that growth.”

An active member of the community, Auerbach serves as production counsel to the Actors’ Playhouse-Community Advisory Board on a pro bono basis. He also provides pro bono counsel to Women of Tomorrow and other local not for profits.

“We are delighted to add an attorney of Marc’s caliber and to expand the geographic scope of our practice group to Miami,” said Mark H. Gallant, Co-Chair of the Health Care Practice Group and a member in Cozen O’Connor’s Philadelphia office. “We also are enthused about Marc’s depth of experience in emerging areas of healthcare law, including electronic technology—which complements our existing HIPAA, telemedicine and cyber security and privacy practice—and the development of concierge medicine practices.”

Auerbach received his J.D. from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, cum laude, and Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Marketing from the University of Delaware, cum laude.
