Polsinelli Expands Health Care Presence in California for Second Time This Year

Polsinelli announced today the addition of another three health care attorneys to its Los Angeles office, continuing a wave of strategic hiring to expand the firm’s footprint in California.

Health care attorneys Erin L. Muellenberg, Richard K. Rifenbark, and Anna Suda are the latest in a series of recent hires in Polsinelli’s California offices. Health care attorneys Jonathon E. Cohn and Paul A. Gomez joined the firm’s Los Angeles office in February. More than 40 attorneys have joined the firm’s Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Silicon Valley offices in the past two years. Polsinelli has approximately 800 attorneys across 20 offices coast to coast.

With one of the fastest-growing health care practices in the nation, Polsinelli has established a team of more than 185 attorneys to provide comprehensive legal services to health care providers across the country. The practice was recently ranked nationally by Chambers USA (May 2017).

“Our growing client needs in California have driven our recent growth,” said Matt Murer, chair of the firm’s Health Care practice. “Rick, Erin and Anna bring great experience to our practice in a variety of areas including transactions, compliance, operations and medical staffing.”

Muellenberg counsels health care providers on regulatory matters, licensing, accreditation, credentialing, peer reviews and the full spectrum of compliance issues. Rifenbark counsels clients on health care fraud and abuse issues, including the False Claims Act, Stark law, and the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, as well as on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and physician contracts. Suda counsels clients on physician discipline, Stark law, mid-level provider issues and healthcare transactions.

“The additions over the past several weeks to our health care practice – along with other high-profile attorneys joining the office – have bolstered our ability to serve clients in expanded ways,” said Polsinelli’s Los Angeles Managing Partner Noel Cohen, who is a practicing commercial litigation attorney. “To be able to supplement our already strong team with the collective experience of these new prominent attorneys further enhances our capacity to work with businesses throughout California and across the United States.”
