Alston & Bird Strengthens West Coast Finance Practice

Alston & Bird has bolstered its finance capabilities with the addition of Gregg Loubier as partner in the firm’s Finance Group in Los Angeles. Loubier joins from Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP in Los Angeles, where he was partner and chair of the Real Estate Finance Practice Group.

“Our lending clients are more frequently demanding cradle-to-grave services with deep local knowledge,” said Robert Sullivan, Alston & Bird partner and Finance Group co-leader. “Gregg’s addition brings best-in-class real estate finance and securitization expertise to our established origination and mortgage servicing platform and further strengthens our reputation as one of the few firms that can handle the most sophisticated transactions in this space.”

Loubier has broad real estate finance experience with in-depth capabilities in commercial lending, portfolio and securitized commercial mortgage finance, construction lending, loan participation, loan servicing, workouts and the exercise of mortgage lender remedies. He also focuses on the acquisition, financing, leasing, management and disposition of real estate assets.

“Gregg is well known and highly respected in the legal community in Los Angeles, and we are fortunate to have him join us,” said Rick Blumen, Alston & Bird partner and co-leader of its Finance Group. “He brings superb credentials to our Finance Practice, enabling us to expand our capabilities on the West Coast in line with our national service offerings.”

Loubier is widely published and speaks regularly to legal and industry groups. He is the California State Chair of the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and past chair of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Real Property Section.

“We are excited to welcome Gregg to our Los Angeles team,” said Thomas Wingard, partner in charge of Alston & Bird’s Los Angeles office. “He is a tremendously talented lawyer with a reputation for understanding clients’ business goals and needs and providing concierge-level service, which make him a perfect fit for us.”

Loubier is the latest addition to Alston & Bird’s Finance Group. Since the start of the year, the group has added 20 lawyers, including four partners in Dallas and a counsel in Charlotte.
