White & Case Expands EMEA FRI Capabilities With Addition of New Partner in London

Global law firm White & Case LLP has expanded its financial restructuring and insolvency capabilities in the EMEA region with the addition of Ian Wallace as a new partner in London.

“Our Financial Restructuring & Insolvency practice in the UK and Europe has experienced vibrant growth in recent years, particularly on the strength of our relationships with London’s distressed investor community,” said White & Case partner Thomas Lauria, Global Head of the Global Financial Restructuring & Insolvency Practice.

“Ian’s addition to the team is an important continuation of that trajectory. He follows last year’s addition in Hamburg of FRI partner Riaz Janjuah, and is another clear demonstration that the Firm is committed to both supporting the needs of our clients and growing our advisory role across the region.”

Wallace, who joins the Firm’s Global Financial Restructuring & Insolvency Practice, has advised on a wide range of restructuring transactions, both on the debtor side for corporates and financial sponsors and on the creditor side for financial institutions and funds. He joins White & Case from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and brings more than 12 years of experience.

“Ian is a technically astute lawyer with significant experience advising on FRI transactions and a strong knowledge of the FRI market and client base,” said White & Case partner Christian Pilkington, who heads the Firm’s non-contentious FRI team in EMEA. “We’re seeing a shift in the lender market towards alternative capital providers, and Ian will have an important role to play in an expanding market where we anticipate further demand for legal services. His arrival also supports the Firm’s wider strategic ambition of driving growth in London.”

Worldwide, the Firm’s Global Financial Restructuring & Insolvency Practice is an integrated team of around 160 lawyers who practice exclusively or principally in the area of bankruptcy and insolvency law. As a recognized leader in complex cross-border insolvencies and workouts, White & Case represents clients in all aspects of restructurings, workouts and insolvency matters, including both transactional and litigation matters. The Firm regularly represents multinational corporations in simultaneous proceedings in virtually every corner of the world.
