Proskauer Continues Strategic Growth of its Corporate Platform with Addition of Eleanor Shanks in London

International law firm Proskauer announced today the arrival of M&A lawyer Eleanor Shanks as a partner in the Firm’s London office.

Ms. Shanks’s practice focuses on private equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, co-investments and other fund investments, in both domestic and cross-border transactions.

“We have made a number of strategic hires in recent months to substantially grow our global corporate platform, particularly in the private equity space. We are thrilled to have Eleanor join, which follows the recent arrival of partner Ben Davis to our finance practice and private equity real estate partners Jo Owen and Vikki McKay. We are certain her extensive transactional experience will make her an invaluable asset to the Firm and our clients on a global scale.” said Ronald Papa, co-chair of the firm’s Global Corporate Department and M&A practice.

Ms. Shanks has advised leading private equity sponsors, other investors and funds, financial institutions and management teams. In 2016 she was named in the Financial News Top 40 Under 40 Rising Stars in Legal Services and is an alumna of the Private Equity Programme for Executives at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.

“Eleanor’s strong track record advising private equity players further strengthens our position in the industry as we continue to expand our presence in Europe. I am delighted she is joining us,” said partner Steven Davis, who leads Proskauer’s M&A group in London.

Proskauer’s sustained growth is in part due to its consistent work with some of the most high profile and global players in the private equity market. Most recently, the team in London has advised ERM, the world’s largest consultancy, in the $1.7 billion sale to Omers Private Equity; The Carlyle Group on its investment in PA Consulting; sovereign wealth fund GIC in its acquisition of the Greenko Group; and Hong Kong-listed Magnificent Real Estate on its acquisition of Travelodge London Kings Cross Hotel. Other headline transactions include the high-profile fundraisings of both Montagu Private Equity on its €2.75 billion fund V and Gilde Buy Out Partner on its €1.1 billion fund V, and in the last 12 months alone advising Ardian on over 20 secondary transactions totaling more than $5 billion.

Ms. Shanks received her undergraduate law degree with honors from University of Warwick and her graduate degree from Nottingham Law School. She joins the Firm from Dentons
