Dechert Strengthens its German Practice with Addition of Norbert Fischbach as New National Partner in Frankfurt

Dechert LLP announced today that Norbert Fischbach has joined the firm’s Corporate & Securities group as a national partner in the Frankfurt office. His arrival further strengthens Dechert’s corporate and tax capabilities in Germany. Previously, Fischbach was counsel at Fried Frank, where he worked closely with Sven Schulte-Hillen, a corporate partner in Dechert’s Frankfurt office who joined the firm in March 2012. Prior to that, Fischbach worked for several years in the tax practice of one of the “big four” accountancy firms.

Davis Polk – UBS AG $2 Billion Tier 2 Subordinated Notes Offering

Davis Polk advised UBS Securities LLC, Citigroup Global Markets Inc., Goldman, Sachs & Co., J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated, Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, RBS Securities Inc. and Wells Fargo Securities, LLC as joint bookrunners on a Section 3(a)(2) exempt offering by UBS AG, acting through its Stamford branch, of $2 billion aggregate principal amount of 7.625% tier 2 subordinated notes due 2022. The notes are subject to a contingent low-trigger write-down resulting in the full write-down of principal amount. The notes represent the first Basel III-compliant contingent capital to be offered in the United States.

Mark Easton Returns to O’Melveny & Myers

O’Melveny & Myers LLP announced today that Mark Easton is rejoining the Firm from Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. where he served as Deputy General Counsel. Easton will reside in O’Melveny’s Los Angeles office as a partner and a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group. He also will spend significant time in the Firm’s Century City office working with members of O’Melveny’s Entertainment, Sports and Media Practice Group.

Hunton & Williams Advises on €800m Power Plant in Croatia

Hunton & Williams has been engaged by Hrvatska Elektroprivreda of Croatia to advise on an international tender for the design, engineering, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a new €800 million, 500MW coal-fired power plant at Plomin in Istria, Croatia. The plant will be built adjacent to the Plomin A and B power plants, presently owned and operated by RWE and Hrvatska Elektroprivreda.
