Our client, a Fortune 100 Company based in the Southeast, seeks a Senior Sales & Customer Contracting Attorney. There will be a competitive compensation package. This position requires at least six (6) years of experience in sales/customer contracting, or other contract experience, and demonstrated competence as a practicing attorney in the relevant areas of law.

This role will provide legal counsel, advice, review and direction to the corporation, its subsidiaries, various departments and to members of management to ensure effective operation in accordance with federal, state and local laws and Company policies, including matters related to Sales and Customer Contracting for air, ocean, rail, surface, customs brokerage and other related services offered by the Company to customers. The ideal candidate will have a background in either freight forwarding, transportation (trucking, ocean, rail, air) or procurement. It is essential that you be adept at drafting and negotiating sales to customer contracts on a case by case basis, and not rely on forms. In other words, you must “think outside the box” and be able to function independently. It is also crucial that you have solid “people skills” and be able to interact and build relationships with the sales teams in the field.
Specific Essential duties/responsibilities:
  • Drafts, reviews and negotiates legal documents including Sales and Customer contracts and reviews proposed transactions to ensure maximum benefit to the Company and minimize exposure to risk. 
  • Reviews and revises Sales, Marketing and Communications material, both internal and external. 
  • Prepares presentations and materials about Sales and Customer contracting. 
  • Creates, updates, and reviews policies and procedures to ensure that the Company is operating in compliance with laws and regulations and Company policies.
  • Develops and delivers presentations and training to employees, including management, within area of responsibility including Sales and Marketing personnel.
Candidates must have a Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and admission to a state bar, as well as a strong academic record. The client also wants to see strong negotiation, human relations and communications skills. Travel may be necessary.
