Several big Chicago firms are following the national trend and have raised associate salaries, bringing first-year earnings to $135,000. These firms include McDermott Will, Vedder Price, Katten Muchin, Jenner & Block, and Winston & Strawn.

Philadelphia firm Schnader Harrison Segal & Lewis announced a $10,000 salary increase for associates n all seven of its offices. This brings its Philly first-year rate to $125,000, matching moves by several of the city's other big firms. Schnader Harrison was founded in 1935 and currently has six East Coast offices and one in San Francisco.

Baker Botts has increased its Texas associate salaries at all levels to meet the current market trend. First-years will now earn $140,000 with a potential $10,000 bonus, slightly bettering the recent moves by V&E and Andrews Kurth. Baker Botts is based in Houston and has offices in both Dallas and Austin.

Houston-based Andrews Kurth has followed Vinson & Elkins lead in raising associate salaries. Details of the changes are as yet unreleased, but will be retroactive to January 1. Andrews Kurth's Texas offices are located in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and The Woodlands.
