K&L Gates Strengthens Global Labor, Employment and Workplace Safety Practice with Addition of Houston Partner

Global law firm K&L Gates LLP has expanded its U.S. and cross-border labor, employment and workplace safety practice with the addition of Houston partner Nickolas G. Spiliotis. He joins K&L Gates from Texas-based law firm Jackson Walker LLP.

Spiliotis has a national labor and employment disputes and advisory practice, with experience in the state and federal courts of Texas and New York, among other states. He advises employers in the energy, hospitality, maritime, manufacturing, and other key industries on employment and workplace safety issues, and frequently appears before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Texas Workforce Commission, the United States Department of Labor, and the National Labor Relations Board.

“Nick enhances our ability to advise U.S. and multinational employers on workplace and employment issues in Texas and across the country,” said Randel Young, administrative partner of K&L Gates’ Houston office. “His deep employment and labor experience, representing U.S. and international clients, is a natural fit within K&L Gates’ multinational practice platform/

“He connects our fast-growing cross-border investment practice in Houston to the firm’s cross-disciplinary Global Employer Solutions team, which has more than 200 lawyers collaborating across the firm’s global platform to provide efficient and innovative solutions in employment, workplace safety, immigration, benefits, executive compensation, and labor investigations, regardless of location. We are delighted to have Nick with us.”

Lawyers in K&L Gates’ Houston office have deep experience advising U.S. and multinational clients in a variety of disputes and litigation as well as on a range of investment and finance, energy law, healthcare, and technology matters. The office is an important part of the firm’s global energy practice and advises private and public companies on U.S. and cross-border upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas projects, investments, joint ventures, and disputes, including capabilities in LNG project development, oil and gas commodity trading, oil and gas finance, and domestic and international maritime matters.

Spiliotis’ addition to K&L Gates’ Houston office follows the earlier arrivals this year of energy/commercial trial partner Michael Murphy and corporate/M&A and securities partner Bryce Linsenmayer, and the promotions of two Houston lawyers — David Sweeney and Jonathan Hoff — as partners in the firm’s global energy transactions practice.
