Bruce “Chip” Morris joins Kane Russell Coleman & Logan PC (KRCL) in the Houston office. Chip brings over 20 years of experience successfully representing and counseling clients on a wide range of commercial and intellectual property matters.
Chip’s practice focuses on diverse business litigation matters, including significant intellectual property litigation. Whether it’s protecting the trade secrets of how to build the world’s fastest street car, recovering lost profits for the patent holder of one of the most successful infomercial products, protecting a major television network against a cybersquatter, or being on the cutting edge of covenant not to compete law, Chip Morris has over 20 years of experience successfully representing and counseling clients on a wide range of intellectual property matters.
Chip is a former Chairman of the American Bar Association’s Sub-Committee on Trade Secrets and Tortious Interference with Contractual Relations. He has extensive experience litigation trade secret and covenant not to compete cases, having been involved in over 40 successful trials, injunction hearings, or contempt proceedings. He has authored briefs in two of the most significant appellate decisions in that area. He has also been quoted by CNN.com and Wired Magazine as an expert on trade secret cases of national interest, and he has authored and presented several professional papers on trade secret and covenant to compete litigation.
Chip also has extensive copyright, trademark and patent litigation experience, including trying three patent cases to either a successful jury or court verdict. His recent work involves co-authoring a successful brief to the U.S. Supreme Court on a patent jurisdiction issue and obtaining injunctive relief against future trademark infringement in favor of a high-profile political advocacy group.
In addition, Chip has extensive commercial litigation experience in the energy, electrical supply, financial services, consumer products, real estate, transportation, death care, waste and other industries and regularly counsels companies on employment policies, intellectual property protection policies, employment agreements and other employment related matters.
