Freshfields Advises Yum! on Takeover of Little Sheep

International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has advised Yum! Brands Inc., a U.S.-based fast food company and owner of KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell chains, on its US$570 million acquisition of Little Sheep Group Ltd., a Hong Kong-listed, Mongolian hot-pot restaurant operator. The privatization scheme was approved by shareholders in January and the scheme became effective on 1 February having been sanctioned by the Grand Court in Cayman Islands.

Herbert Smith Advises SIPC on Its US$1.1 Billion Increase in Equity in APLNG Deal

Herbert Smith’s China energy team has advised Sinopec International Petroleum Exploration & Production Corporation (“SIPC”) on the subscription through its subsidiary for additional shares in Australia Pacific LNG Pty Ltd for a net consideration of approximately US$1.1 billion, which on completion will raise Sinopec’s ownership interest from 15% to 25%. ConocoPhillips’ and Origin Energy’s respective ownership interests will be reduced to 37.5%.

Davis Polk advised CITIC Securities Corporate Finance (HK) Limited (CITIC) on the $473.2 million rights offering of China Communications Services Corporation Limited.
