Jones Day Expands Fund Formation Capabilities in Asia with Addition of Scott D. Peterman in Hong Kong

Jones Day is pleased to announce that Scott D. Peterman has joined as a partner in the Firm’s Private Equity Practice. Formerly a partner with Sidley Austin, Mr. Peterman will be based in the Firm’s Hong Kong Office.

Mr. Peterman is a recognized market leader in the representation of private fund sponsors and investors in connection with the formation of alternative investment vehicles, including private equity funds, real estate funds, and hedge funds. Mr. Peterman is currently ranked by Chambers Asia-Pacific in “Band 1” for China Investment Funds. Together with our Band 1 ranked Singapore investment funds practice, Jones Day now has increased capability to advise fund sponsors and investors on an Asia-wide basis.

Mr. Peterman also advises on general corporate and commercial transactions, including M&A, leveraged buyouts, venture capital, and entrepreneurial transactions ranging from several million dollars to more than US$5 billion; capital markets transactions; debt and equity restructurings; and the regulatory issues implicated by these matters. Mr. Peterman’s practice also focuses on the representation of high tech and communications companies, both large and small, as well as network, broadband, wireless, telecom, Internet, cable, and communications hardware and software businesses.

Mr. Peterman has lived in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tokyo, and London. While in Taiwan, he studied at The Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies (IUP), where he received a Foreign Language Area Studies Fellowship (FLAS). Mr. Peterman earned his J.D. from Georgetown University and his B.A. from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. He speaks Mandarin Chinese and Japanese.
