Dentons Bolsters its Middle East Energy and Infrastructure Team with Partner Hire in Dubai

Dentons has strengthened its Energy and Infrastructure practice in Dubai with the hire of partner Mhairi Main Garcia. Mhairi joins the Firm from Ashurst, where she was Counsel.

Mhairi is a highly experienced corporate and commercial lawyer, specialising in the project development, M&A and capital markets aspects of energy and infrastructure projects. Mhairi has advised sponsors, lenders, contractors and public sector clients on a number of leading and first-of-a-kind deals across the MENA region and beyond.

Mhairi focuses on utilities projects (conventional power and water projects, wastewater and renewables, including solar (CSP and PV), wind and waste-to-energy) and upstream oil and gas projects, including acquisitions and disposals, development of upstream oil and gas projects, and sales arrangements. She also advises on public international law issues related to international projects, such as BITs, sanctions and boundary disputes.

Mhairi’s hire follows the recent recruitment of Corporate partner Ghassan (Gus) Shuhaibar in the Middle East. He joined Dentons in October and is also based in Dubai.

Mhairi said, “I am delighted to be joining Dentons. Its multi-disciplined regional offering with full local law capability and its strong global energy and infrastructure team will provide a great platform to offer seamless and quality services to clients here in the region and around the world.”

Paul Jarvis, Dentons’ Managing Partner for the Middle East, said, “We are very pleased to welcome Mhairi on board. We are advising on a number of significant energy and infrastructure projects across the region. Our work levels remain high and, with that background, we have been looking to invest in quality practitioners like Mhairi and Gus to enhance our offering to clients. We are confident Mhairi’s experience and know-how will further enhance our capabilities to the benefit of our clients.”
