Winston & Strawn Welcomes Three Litigation Leaders in Dallas

Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce that three litigation partners – Natalie Arbaugh, Tom Walsh, and Danielle Williams – have joined the firm. This prestigious team of attorneys will join Winston & Strawn from Fish & Richardson, and will continue their focus on complex commercial, business, and intellectual property litigation matters. Ms. Arbaugh and Mr. Walsh join as founding partners of Winston & Strawn’s new Dallas office. Ms. Williams will collaborate closely with the Dallas litigation group and will be located in Winston’s Charlotte office.

“The vision for our Dallas office was to attract the highest level of talent in the market,” said Tom Fitzgerald, Winston & Strawn’s firmwide managing partner. “Dallas is a vitally important market for our clients. This elite team joining us as partners builds our momentum and exemplifies our commitment to having a substantial presence in Texas.”

“It’s important to me and to our clients that two of these three talented trial lawyers are women. I think that sends a great message about what Winston & Strawn has assembled,” said Tom Melsheimer, who, along with Bryan Goolsby, will serve as managing partners of Winston & Strawn’s Dallas office. “With more than 60 years of combined trial experience, these are the kinds of talented and passionate people you want representing you and your company.”

Winston & Strawn’s Dallas lineup includes a significant number of high-profile attorneys who previously served in leadership positions and are recognized for their efforts to promote inclusivity. For example, Ms. Arbaugh, a nationally recognized leader in women-in-the-law issues, was recently selected for the 2017 Diversity Leader Award and named to the 2016 “Women Worth Watching List” by Profiles in Diversity Journal. At her prior firm, Ms. Arbaugh served as an elected member of the five-person compensation committee and as the nationwide chair of the firm’s women’s initiative. Additionally, Ms. Williams serves on the Board of Trustees for the Salem Academy & College, the oldest educational institution for women in the United States.

Mr. Walsh served as an elected member of his prior firm’s seven-person Management Committee and as a longtime deputy in that firm’s litigation practice. Mr. Walsh is an accomplished trial lawyer with substantial experience successfully handling complex commercial litigation, class action, and patent litigation cases in jurisdictions throughout Texas and the United States. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation since 2014 and selected for the Texas Super Lawyers list of top Lawyers in Texas annually since 2007.

Leadership, diversity, and inclusiveness are core values at Winston & Strawn. For example, in 2013, Winston launched the firm’s Women’s Leadership Initiative (WLI), whose mission is to invest in the success of our female attorneys by providing training, visibility, and opportunities to contribute. WLI has been recognized by the Minority Corporate Counsel Association with the 2016 “Innovator Award” and Chambers USA named the firm a finalist for its 2016 “Diversity in Law Awards” in the category of “Most Pioneering Firm for Female Lawyers.”

Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Arbaugh has tried nearly 30 cases as lead counsel or second chair and is widely recognized as one of the top young trial lawyers in Texas. She was named to Texas Lawyer’s 2014 list of “Winning Women” and has been named one of the Best Lawyers in Dallas by D Magazine each year since 2014. Ms. Arbaugh represents plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of industries in state and federal courts throughout the country in complex business and intellectual property disputes, including serving as co-lead counsel with the Texas Attorney General’s Office in the trial of the largest Medicaid fraud case in Texas history.

Ms. Williams brings extensive experience handling complex patent and commercial disputes, including patent infringement, securities fraud, RICO, and complex contract matters, in federal and state courts across the United States, as well as domestic and international arbitration forums. She regularly speaks and writes on patent damages issues. Ms. Williams was also recognized in Best Lawyers in America for Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property Litigation in 2016.
