Troutman Sanders Adds Environmental and Business Litigation Partners to Chicago Office

Troutman Sanders LLP announced today the addition of Environmental partners Sue Charles and Russ Eggert and Business Litigation partner Trent Cornell. The group, to be based in the firm’s Chicago office, previously practiced at Lathrop & Gage LLP.

Charles and Eggert represent clients nationwide on diverse environmental matters. Their collective experience addresses environmental risk in corporate mergers and acquisitions and project development, and covers a multitude of complex environmental litigation, including class actions, and federal and state enforcement matters. Charles focuses on environmental due diligence, regulatory and transactional issues. Eggert focuses on environmental litigation and toxic torts. A trial lawyer focused on complex business and environmental and financial restructuring litigation, Cornell is recognized nationally for his courtroom work representing retiree groups and trustees in large bankruptcy claims for tens to hundreds of millions of dollars.

Charles earned her J.D. from Indiana University, magna cum laude, and her bachelor’s degree from Boston University. Cornell holds his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame and his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. Eggert received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Illinois.
