Trial Litigator Steve Grimes Rejoins Winston & Strawn in Chicago

Winston & Strawn LLP is pleased to announce Steve Grimes has rejoined the firm as a partner in the Chicago office. Steve is a former federal prosecutor, Winston associate, and partner. He most recently served as Chief Compliance Officer for Tenneco, Inc., a Fortune 500, publicly traded, manufacturing company.

“Steve excelled both as an associate and as a partner at Winston,” said Tom Fitzgerald, the firm’s chairman. “He brings a unique skill set and is part of the next generation of trial lawyers who will position the firm for the future.”

“We’re excited to have Steve rejoin the firm,” said Robb Adkins, co-chair of Winston’s White Collar, Regulatory Defense, and Investigations Practice. “He has extensive trial experience and will be able to leverage the compliance skill-set he developed in his most recent role.”

Fellow Co-Chair Seth Farber added, “Steve also has substantial experience in cyber-security, which is a key concern for clients in virtually all industries and will add depth to our platform.”

Steve focuses a significant portion of his practice on conducting sensitive internal investigations, and interfacing with government agencies on behalf of his clients. He works with companies across many industries to investigate highly confidential and urgent issues related to trade secret theft, technology and security breaches, employee misconduct, conflicts of interest, financial fraud, and potential violations of anti-bribery and other laws. With 11 successful federal court trials under his belt, Steve is an experienced trial lawyer who focuses on complex commercial disputes, antitrust, technology and trade secret litigation, health care fraud, and consumer class actions. He has litigated in both federal and state courts in the U.S., as well as various courts in Europe.

Steve was awarded the Mitch Mars Prosecutorial Award by the Chicago Crime Commission in 2014. He was also the recipient of the Homeland Security Director’s award in 2012, a national award given for superior investigative performance, and the Chicago Crime Commissions Star of Distinction Award in 2011. He received his J.D. from Cornell University and B.S. from Miami University of Ohio.
