Polsinelli, an Am Law 100 firm, announced today that real estate attorney David N. Tanner joined its Chicago office as a shareholder.

Tanner focuses his practice on transactional and structural real estate deals, as well as zoning and land use matters. His work includes handling a variety of commercial real estate transactions involving the acquisition, disposition, and finance of major properties and the structuring of joint ventures. In addition, Tanner regularly represents both landlords and tenants in commercial leasing matters across a variety of asset classes, as well as lenders and borrowers in commercial loan transactions.

His clients have included both the largest retailer and the largest homebuilder in the United States. Tanner previously served as in-house associate general counsel for a real estate development company in Chicago.

“The firm’s national real estate practice continues to grow,” said Eric Greenfield, the Chicago-based co-chair of the firm’s Real Estate division. “David’s experience within the commercial real estate sector, particularly with respect to retail transactions, adds to our strength in some key areas of the market. We’re excited to have him as part of the team.”

Polsinelli’s Real Estate practice is comprised of more than 80 attorneys and is recognized nationally for its market insight and business-oriented approach to real estate transactions. The practice received a Tier 1 ranking, the highest score, from U.S. News & World Report in its 2018 national Best Lawyers® “Best Law Firms” list and has also been ranked in Real Estate Law360’s Top 10 Largest Real Estate Practice Groups.

“I’m thrilled to be joining a firm that has such a deep pool of resources to support the development of my practice,” Tanner said. “I look forward to working with this great group of colleagues to get deals done and keep supporting our clients as they grow their real estate portfolios.”

Tanner is a graduate of the University of Missouri and Saint Louis University School of Law.
