Jones Day welcomes partner Laura Bader to Chicago

The global law firm Jones Day has announced that Laura Bader has joined the Firm’s Chicago Office as a partner in its Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice.

A practicing attorney for nearly 20 years, Ms. Bader advises clients on institutional investment and fiduciary matters, with a particular focus on issues arising under the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (“ERISA”) and other pension laws. Ms. Bader has significant experience with the formation and negotiation of private equity, real estate, venture capital, and other private funds on behalf of fund sponsors and institutional investors, including with respect to “VCOC” and “REOC” structuring and compliance and other “plan asset” issues. She has also counseled ERISA plans and investment managers on ERISA compliance matters.

“Laura’s extensive work with ERISA matters and her experience advising private fund sponsors, investment managers, and institutional investors makes her a valuable addition to the practice in Chicago and an asset for our clients throughout the country,” said Dan Hagen, who co-leads Jones Day’s Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Practice. “Laura’s experience and credentials combine to make her a very respected and trusted advisor. We are extremely happy she’s joining Jones Day.”

“As pension and investment fund matters continue to become more complex, lawyers like Laura are especially valuable to our clients,” added Tina Tabacchi, Partner-in-Charge of Jones Day’s Chicago Office. “She is a great addition to what is already a very strong team, and we look forward to her insights and contributions.”

Ms. Bader has been recommended by The Legal 500 U.S. in the Employee Benefits and Private Equity Funds categories. She was also selected by her peers for inclusion in the 2016 and 2017 editions of The Best Lawyers in America in Employee Benefits (ERISA) Law. Ms. Bader has written for numerous publications on investment fund issues and pension fund matters. She is a frequent speaker and panelist on ERISA, pension issues, and related topics.
