Holland & Knight Adds Energy Partners Todd Kimbrough and Dane McKaughan to Austin Office

Energy industry attorneys Todd Kimbrough and Dane McKaughan have joined Holland & Knight’s Austin, Texas, office as partners. They were both previously with Greenberg Traurig.

“Todd and Dane have a history of effective and efficient representation for a wide variety of energy clients,” said Mark Davis, executive partner of Holland & Knight’s Austin office. “Their practices complement the firm’s already robust regional and national energy practice by providing additional depth from both a regulatory and litigation perspective.”

Mr. Kimbrough focuses his practice on regulatory and utility issues for participants in electricity markets in the United States and abroad. He has been involved in the approval or development of more than $25 billion in electricity infrastructure improvements. He has counseled utilities in rate cases, certificate of convenience and necessity (CCN) proceedings, and integrated resource plan (IRP) approvals in Texas, Georgia, New Mexico, North Carolina, and before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Mr. Kimbrough also regularly represents market participants before the Texas Reliability Entity (Texas RE) and other North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) regional entities. In the past, Mr. Kimbrough served as general counsel and interim CEO for the third largest municipal electric utility in Texas.

Mr. McKaughan primarily focuses on litigation matters involving regulated entities, including gas utilities and pipelines, electric utilities and transmission providers. He has extensive experience representing clients before state regulators, such as the Railroad Commission of Texas and the Public Utility Commission of Texas. Mr. McKaughan also acts as appellate counsel in administrative appeals from agency orders. He has served as lead counsel in more than 40 natural gas utility ratemaking proceedings, including full rate cases, cost of service adjustment (COSA) proceedings and Gas Reliability Infrastructure Program (GRIP) proceedings.

Holland & Knight’s Austin office was established in 2014. The firm also has offices in Dallas and Houston.
