Procopio Growth Continues; Firm Opens Office in Austin, TX

Procopio is at it again. Just months after opening a new office in the heart of Silicon Valley, Procopio announces the opening of a new office in another key technology center, and a gateway to Latin America – Austin, Texas. To lead the development of the office, Procopio welcomes seasoned international corporate attorney Alejandro Suarez to the firm. With over ten years of experience working in international corporate law, Mr. Suarez’s experience includes structuring and documenting new businesses, mergers, acquisitions and private equity agreements.

Mr. Suarez has worked on cross-border deals involving joint ventures, restructurings, insolvency, mergers, acquisitions, financing and securitization in industries from real estate to mining, entertainment and retail. He has assisted companies entering into highly-regulated industries in Latin America and represented foreign nationals and companies with business interests and litigation in the United States. Mr. Suarez is licensed to practice in the United States and Mexico and holds law degrees from the University of Texas at Austin Law School (Master in Laws – LL.M.); Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City (J.D.), where he was in the top 10 of his graduating class; and University of Notre Dame (International Law Program) in London, England.

“Our business model continues to resonate with clients, and as a result, the appetite for our service continues to flourish,” said the firm’s Managing Partner, Tom Turner. “We are excited to expand our platform into Texas, and to the very vibrant technology community of Austin. It’s a key strategic business region in the Americas, and our research leads us to believe we can be very successful with our model there.”

Enrique Hernandez-Pulido, Chair of Procopio’s International Law group, and a well-known International Tax thought leader, added, “We had our eyes on this region for a long time due to the needs of our existing clients. We spent the time to find the right person to lead our foray into the market, and we’re very excited to welcome Alejandro to the Procopio team. His expertise in cross-border deals and international tax issues is absolutely world class. He will play an integral role in our continued success.”

The region of Austin is ideally suited both for Procopio’s emerging growth and intellectual property practices, and for continued expansion of the firm’s highly-regarded international practice, which specializes in cross-border work with Mexico and across Latin America. Procopio’s reputation in international tax legal matters is well-established, with their International Tax team now boasting almost twenty attorneys who assist domestic and international corporations with complex international cross-border transactions and multinational agreements.
