Reed Smith Expands Corporate Practice in Beijing

Global law firm Reed Smith LLP has today announced the appointment of Jie Zhang to its partnership. Jie joins the firm’s Beijing office from Norton Rose Fulbright’s Beijing office.

Jie has extensive experience advising clients on mergers, acquisitions and related corporate matters, with a particular focus on the energy and natural resources sector, covering upstream oil and gas production, oil and gas service companies and construction materials. Jie has built his practice on inbound foreign investment work (including international mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and cross-border investments involving the People’s Republic of China) and China outbound investments.

“Our strategic aim remains to continue the growth of our corporate offering in Hong Kong and Mainland China and our global energy and natural resources sector focus,” commented Michael Fosh, Beijing office managing partner. “Jie’s work in the energy sector will ensure that our clients have direct local expertise, with close links across our global platform, for their inbound and outbound investments.”

Jie’s arrival follows that of corporate partner Gregory Wang, who joined the firm’s Hong Kong office in September 2015. With over 50 lawyers, the firm’s Greater China corporate team (including the Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai offices) works together to support clients seamlessly on transactions in a wide range of sectors, including: energy and natural resources, shipping, life sciences, real estate and insurance.
