Baker & McKenzie; Lay Offs In London

Baker & McKenzie has announced that the firm has laid off 20 legal professionals, including associates and paralegals. Many practice areas were hit by the lay-offs, including corporate. The firm is just one of many to make cuts in London, as law firms,Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, Dechert and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe have already done so.

Morgan & Finnegan Sees Mass Exodus

More than a dozen of Morgan & Finnegan’s 17 partners have been poached by rival Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell.  Former Morgan partners James Gould and John Sweeney are amongst those to join the firm. Gould will be the IP group’s Co-Head, and Sweeney joins as deputy managing partner in NY.  This may be the end of Morgan & Finnegan.

Paul Hasting has lost its immigration team to new venture BAL Global Corporate Immigration. Those leaving Paul Hastings include: Daryl R. Buffenstein, Deborah Marlowe, Bo Cooper and Kyle Sherman.  BAL Global will open seven US offices (Atlanta, Dallas, ouston, New York, McLean, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.) and employ over 325 professionals.
